Getting Started with Research

Find Books, Articles, DVDs and More

• Discovery Search
  Search through the library's books, DVDs and articles from a variety of databases.  Discovery Search won't search through everything we have, so if you're doing in depth research, check our our Research Guides or Ask a Librarian for help!
• Library Catalog (Books and DVDs)
  Our catalog will search through our books (including eBooks), DVDs, and journals (but not individual articles).
• Databases (Articles, Statistics and More)
  Access to all of our databases by name or by subject.  Our most frequently used databases include:

  • Congressional Research Service Reports (GalleryWatch CRS)
  • Opposing Viewpoints Resource Center

  Search our Classic Catalog to find periodicals by title or by subject.  Please note, this will not find individual articles.
• Archives and Special Collections
  Find St. Edward's University yearbooks dating back to the 1920's, University publications back to the 1800's, rare books and more.

• Quick Tutor: Online Writing Help
  Undergraduate students are allowed to submit a paragraph or writing question two times a week.
• Online Writing Lab
  Graduate students and New College students can use the online writing lab, which accepts submissions online for review and feedback.
